NCIS Plot Summary
The brainchild of Donald P. Bellisario, NCIS reveals the way this government agency functions. NCIS is a governmental organization that investigates every crime associated with the Navy and the Marine Corps and has the authority to question and take necessary steps against any personnel involved, irrespective of his/her rank and position. A few of the things they deal in are murder, espionage, terrorism and stolen arms. The special agents have a global access towards everything necessary to solve any crime that involves the Navy or Marine Corps.

The team is lead by Leroy Jethro Gibbs, a Special Agent; his skilled investigating instincts have made him a smart and tough interrogator as well. Bending any set rules depends on how desperate he is on his case and Special Agent Tony DiNozzo thus makes a perfect assistant to him. DiNozzo was a homicide detective formerly and his street-instincts are a big help to Leroy.
The duo is joined by a dark witted and Gothic Abby Sciuto (forensics specialist) and Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard (a medical examiner) besides special agent Tim McGee, a real fleet-fingered operator on the computers. Others joining the team are special agent Caitlin “Kate” Todd (former USSS agent), Mossad Agent Ziva David (who replaces Kate) and a new director, Jenny Shepard, who loses her post to Leon Vance later.
Re-watching NCIS
If the above plot gets you interested, then you have the chance to see all the episodes right from the first one. For avid followers of NCIS, this news may come as a sweet surprise (or a pleasant shock; you decide), for there are many out there who still regret missing the most turning-point sequences. The secret is: NCIS episodes are now being made available as downloadable video files individually; however, for those who missed out on entire seasons or those who haven’t watched NCIS earlier, the news of downloading an entire season’s episodes in a single video file may just speak accolades.
This has been the best way so far to catch up on missed episodes; doing some recaps and knowing in advance some unreleased stuff. You may watch the NCIS episodes either streaming or after downloading; free websites like Youtube, Revver and Google Videos are providing older NCIS episodes as well, in their complete lineup. However, there are a lot that exhibit only the older episodes in a random manner and Youtube falls into this category. The quality or the resolution of the videos is not also up to the mark, compressed data being the prime reason. This makes pay per view a wiser option, but only if you are ready to spend a small fortune. So it’s best to download them first rather than watching real-time, thus maximizing the chances for your number of views with the same amount. You can also watch NCIS online here if you want.
In this episode of the show, we saw a side of Leroy Jethro Gibbs that we had not seen before. This, of course, was the whole essence of the show, seeing as most of the action only took place in his head. In the episode, we see Gibbs life as if for the very first time. We look back at the decisions that he has made in his life and all the things that resulted from such decisions. In this way, we are also able to understand all the things that he has accomplished over the decades.

Gibbs, like most of us, would love to live in a perfect world and be able to have it both ways. However, in this episode, he learns that the world does not really work that way. The show does a good job of filming all the faces from both the past and present. It also does a good job of depicting how they go about their business.
Meanwhile, it is left to the old Mike Franks to talk to original Probie through the out of body experience. The experience was a good one, since it reintroduced some of the familiar characters and faces of the show. Gibb’s old friend, Mike, also played a somewhat over worldly role in the episode. Jethro, with the help of Mike and the others, realized that he is where he is now, as a result of all the decisions he has made and all the things that have happened to him. When Gibbs relives not having been able to save Kate, Kelly and Shannon, he finally realizes that there is some good that resulted from this devastation.
The terrorists and criminals were locked away and the families were given some bit of closure after they suffered terrible losses. Gibbs realizes that his life and choices are not utopian and that despite everything; there will always be moments of what ifs. However, in the end, given his line of work and the fact that he has to get up every day to protect and serve, Gibbs does not have time to have regrets.
Throughout the episode, the alternate scenes were really perfect and it can safely be said that the episode was perfectly executed. It is also vital to point out that there were parallels between the week’s case and what was going on with Gibbs. However, the episode would probably have fallen through if it had not been for the cross between the case of the week and Gibb’s introspection. This is because; Gibb’s lessons at the dinner perfectly applied to the case and there was just the right balance between the two things.
The emotional highpoint of the episode was the rendezvous of Gibbs with Kelly and Shannon. This also served as a turning point for Gibbs, since his loss would have been their loss and NCIS would probably never have known Gibbs in the end.
